Dear Friend & Vernon Neighbor,
Warm greetings to you and your family. May this holiday season bring you joy, peace, and cherished moments together. During the holidays, many imagine bustling sounds and festive carols. Here, however, the season carries a unique stillness—one filled with the beauty of our shared language and the spirit of our Deaf community. Holy Angels (HAC) stands proudly as one of the few Deaf-centered parishes with its own dedicated space, serving as both a spiritual home and cultural landmark. This year, our focus has been on preserving and enhancing our historic, century-old buildings to ensure they continue to serve future generations.
Thanks to the generosity of individuals and organizations like yours, we have made meaningful progress. Yet, there is still important work ahead. Our current goals include installing energy-efficient windows, replacing worn floors, and restoring our treasured stained-glass windows. These improvements will help Holy Angels remain a place of worship, gathering, and cultural connection for the Vernon community and beyond.
For many families, HAC is more than a church—it is a bridge to Deaf culture and language. Nearly 90% of Deaf children are born to hearing parents, and within our parish, about 95% of these families speak Spanish and have limited access to Deaf resources or American Sign Language. Holy Angels unites English, Spanish, and ASL speakers into one trilingual, inclusive family, offering a rare and beautiful space where all feel seen, heard, and valued.
We would also like to extend that sense of home to you. If you haven’t yet visited, please consider this your personal invitation to experience the peace of our grounds. Holy Angels welcomes you to use our space for personal reflection, small gatherings, or community meetings.
Here's a link to our brochure highlighting our parish and this year’s appeal. As a nonprofit organization, Holy Angels relies on the generosity of friends like you, and all donations are tax-deductible.
Thank you for your time, your support, and for sharing in our mission. Most of all, we hope you’ll accept our invitation to make Holy Angels your home away from home.
With gratitude and blessings,
Deacon Tomás García, PsyD
